Waitomo Caves Visitor Centre

Project Description

In 2005, a major fire devastated the Waitomo Caves Visitor Centre. The Waikato community rallied together to ensure these caves remained open for everyone to enjoy.

Requirement and specification

Sustainable and durable materials were a must to ensure a harmonious combination of environment, community and culture. Bobrick Commercial Bathroom Ware was provided by Zone NZ Ltd for the centres’ bathrooms. Products provided included hand dryers, soap dispensers and toilet roll holders. The durability and design of the units suited the overall design of the building perfectly.

The combination of the criss-crossed roof design and the interior facilities truly satisfied the requirements, creating a stand out complex which enhances the caves and the community. This building has won multiple design awards including the NZ Architecture ‘Commercial Architecture Award’ and the ‘2011 Architecture Medal’.
