Auckland Art Gallery

Project Description

Originally opened in 1887 as a public library, the Auckland Art Gallery is now the largest art institution in New Zealand. In 2011, a large extension and renovation project was carried out on the iconic Auckland site.

Requirement and specification

Archimedia and the Auckland City Council required a high quality and durable range of bathroom ware to aid in the modernization of the gallery. The Bobrick range of Stainless Steel Bathroom Ware was the ideal candidate and was specified throughout the building. Intumescent coatings were also required for the historical cast iron columns and the ornate fibrous plaster ceiling cornices. Zone's Phoenix steel intumescent was specified on the columns and CAP coatings were specified on the cornices.

Zone NZ supplied a variety of Bobrick Paper Towel Dispensers and Waste Bins to Hardware Direct who completed the fit out. Both Phoenix and CAP were successfully applied to achieve the fire ratings whilst maintaining the historical significance of the building.
